Pat Owens, the long-standing supporter of Hickstead died on 25 June, aged 93
Mrs Owens was born in 1930, and simply earlier than the Second World Battle her household moved to a farm in Sussex. She went to Trevelyan College in Haywards Heath. She was on her solution to her first Pony Membership camp when conflict was declared, in September 1939.
Mrs Owens was a part of Hickstead from its inception. After working in London, she returned to Sussex and have become the primary ever present secretary to Hickstead, within the days when the present was run from the primary home at Hickstead Place. She carried out this function for 5 years till her marriage to David, however she returned to Hickstead yearly in a supporting function.

A spokesman for Hickstead stated the staff was “extremely unhappy to listen to of the passing of expensive Pat Owens”, and described her because the “gentlest of women, however with feist, sass and a depraved sense of humour.”
She leaves a son Bob, daughter-in-law Henrietta, and grandsons Chris, Jamie and Oscar.
