Seen This Week: Shade + a Main Lunar Standstill

Shade! Avoiding this week’s coldest climate, Charity Kheshgi and I visited Phipps Conservatory throughout their annual Vacation Magic flower present. This time I used to be captivated by summer time colours. Orange! Yellow!

A Main Lunar Standstill is arising tomorrow.

The Full Moon on December 15, 2024, will rise and set at its most excessive northerly factors on the horizon—the results of a once-every-18.6 years “main lunar standstill.”

How odd that simply days earlier than the winter solstice, when the solar stands nonetheless and rises and units at its southernmost level, the moon is standing nonetheless at its northernmost level.
